Chopstick people’s country
Time flies! Almost three weeks in already, just a few days left in this beautiful country. I’m heading back home on the 8th of november, with a stop-over in Moscow…
First some pictures

When in… China…

Picture tease
中国 :D
hi 人’s
I made my way back to China, and I’m loving it.
I flew on the 13th of October from Amsterdam to Beijing, with a stopover in Moscow. Because of my ‘goodbye party’ with Filip and Maikel in Groningen, I was just a ‘tiny’ bit hungover. In the plane from Amsterdam till Moscow, I couldn’t sleep, and in the plane from Москва to 北京 I didn’t catch much sleep too. So my arrival in Beijing was pretty hard. But, on entering the subway, I was fine again. I suddenly started to recognize things I forgot about China.
- The wind that goes through the subway
- The weird Chinese smell everywhere (like onions or old people)
- Screens in the subway that never work
- Girls with glasses without glasses
- Baby’s with their ass showing for easy poopoo
- Getting ripped off
- People spitting everywhere
- The intense smog
- The Beijing dialect
- The customer service feedback buttons (I always press Very Good)
But it’s great, I love it
.
So on the first day, I met with allot of friends. So good to see them again. Took the subway to the CUC and to stroll around and I had a fantastic dinner with Jelena, Jelena & George
.
Today I took myself and my bags to Arnaud, I’ll be Couchsurfing here for some days.
I also rent a bike (A BIG COOL MOUNTAINBIKE). (URBAN CHINESE BEIJING MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDE YES HELL YEAH HOOHAH JONGE, BAM). I’ll rent it for 24 days… I took it through town, and Ritan park today… should be a bit more careful, because traffic is INTENSE(yes in capitals). Maybe I should buy a helmet-camera to show what it is like, but you can probably imagine
.
So tonight there is joined birthday party to which I will attend, followed by some other party. The plan is to go DANDONG on Monday, and from there to Qingdao.
Marck.
2 weeks until China
15 days left until I fly to 中国.
Plans changed, again of course.
I will land in Beijing on on Friday the 14th. On Sunday I’ll fly to the border of North Korea, to see whats going on there.

From there, I’ll train back to Beijing, and then take the overnight train to Qingdao. I would like to buy a big painting somewhere this trip. First I wanted to go the Shenzhen, to the painters suburb to buy a replica of some famous artist, but it’s a bit too expensive to fly all the way there. So I’ll see if I can find something, that can decorate my wall, in the 798 art district in Beijing.
Facebook Timeline
YES! I Finally got rid of this crappy Facebook update. Through some maze, I got the ‘Facebook Timeline’ now.

It maybe looks a bit like Myspace again, or like a blog, but it’s way better then the last update.
This Youtube video shows you how you can activate it:
Saturn, Jupiter & a Supernova
I feel like a child again.
Yesterday night, there was a public viewing at the astronomic part of my university. They started with a presentation/lecture about astronomy and the galaxy/universe. They told me everything about our planets, the solar system, the Big Bang, the Milkyway… and so much more. At night, we started looking through the big telescope on the top of university (blue), such a nice thing to expierence once. It was a pretty clear sky, but still, the sight was not perfect… but I’ve to say, I saw some awesome stuff
.

Afterwards Andy, Vicktoria & me climbed to Kardinge Hill to see some more stars.
To sum up: Beautiful night, which made me wiser then before.
A visit from Estonia!
Last weekend, two of my, let’s say, friends from Estonia came over to Groningen. Eve and Laura. Last summer break, me and Maikel went to visit them in Tallinn in Estonia, and now they came round to visit us.

So we had a big dinner with quiet some friends of mine and them. Ate the Dutch meal named ‘Stamppot Andijvie’ and went to some bars afterwards. We came back in the early morning when the sun was about to rise. The next morning/afternoon, after a good breakfast, I showed them Groningen city, went to some art galleries, had a good milkshake in the sun (yes SUN!) and ate home made quiche (tnx Laura) and went for a last night clubbing.

Hope to see you again girls!
